Over time, the recyclability of products and prices may change. For instance, low grade paper, a high volume item, is no longer economically viable for HFR to ship out for recycling. There is no longer a market for plastics, which is why we are moving to plastic up-cycling. In the graphs below, some annual recycling quantities declined in recent years because of loss of recyclables, like low grade paper, or delayed shipping due to low market prices (plastic) or lack of shipping support (metals). Smaller size of electronics products also contributed to lower E-waste volumes.
